Combating Anti-Asian Hate Resources

Throughout the past year, our communities in the United States and elsewhere in the world have faced extraordinary challenges. Unfortunately, today we continue to face additional challenges, with increased hatred and violence towards our friends, family, colleagues, and the greater AAPI community across the U.S.

Below, the CGCC team has put together a list of resources for the U.S.-China business community to consult in combating anti-Asian racism and hatred.

How to Protect Yourself & Support Others

  • Stay Safe From Hate Booklet – Asian American Federation - This booklet helps build on your knowledge of how to defend and protect yourself and your loved ones in a dangerous situation. The Federation has also made some of the pages from the booklet into individual flyers, available for download HERE

  • How to Respond to Coronavirus Racism - Learning For Justice -  As COVID-19 infections increase, so does racism and xenophobia. Use Learning for Justice’s “Speak Up” strategies to let people know you’re not OK with racist or xenophobic comments about coronavirus or anything else.

White Papers

  • A Rising Tide of Hate and Violence against Asian Americans in New York During COVID-19 - This paper discusses the data showing that anti-Asian hate and violence have skyrocketed in 2020, focusing on the New York City region. What are the contributing factors and causes for this disturbing rise in anti-Asian hate and violence? And what actions have politicians, law enforcement, and community organizations taken to address anti-Asian hate and violence? How can we keep Asian Americans safe in America?

Reporting & Documenting Incidents

The National Asian Pacific American Bar Association's Hate Crime Resource Center suggests that individuals who have been victims of a hate crime or have witnessed a hate crime should report these incidents to their local police department first. In addition to local police, incidents should be reported to the local FBI field office and state attorney general's office.

Reporting to Community Organizations

  • Stop AAPI Hate  - The center tracks and responds to incidents of hate, violence, harassment, discrimination, shunning, and child bullying against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in the United States.
