On February 23rd, 2024, CGCC Chairman and President & CEO of Bank of China U.S.A., Wei HU, and representatives from several CGCC member companies participated in the Tianjin Binhai New Area-U.S. Economic and Trade Cooperation Conference in New York.
Organized by a delegation from the Tianjin Binhai New Area in Tianjin, China, the event gathered over 60 attendees from the U.S.-China business communities to discuss potential economic cooperation opportunities between the U.S. and the Tianjin region.

Ping HUANG, Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in New York, who was also in attendance at the event, pointed out in his speech that against the backdrop of the 45th anniversary of the U.S. and China establishing diplomatic relations and the successful meeting between the two leaders at the San Francisco Summit back in November 2023, the bilateral relationship has reached a new starting point and has ushered in new cooperation opportunities.

Maojun LIAN from the Tianjin (Binhai New Area) delegation expressed his profound thanks to the American business community for their many years of investment in the Tianjin region. LIAN also encouraged members of the American business community to continue to follow Tianjin’s progress and welcomed them to visit the area.

In his remarks, Chairman HU discussed the great importance of the U.S.-China trade relationship and encouraged both sides to focus on the many opportunities there are for collaboration.

“The significance of U.S.-China trade and economic relations cannot be overstated. Despite recent challenges, the foundation of our relationship remains robust, driven by deep interdependence and a shared commitment to progress. As we navigate through uncertainties, it is imperative to focus on the immense opportunities that lie ahead. China's ongoing economic reforms, market opening, and innovation drive present unparalleled opportunities for American businesses in sectors ranging from green energy to digital technology and healthcare,” said HU.
